Shoplifting, drug charges
A man was arrested for shoplifting at Wal-Mart on Monday, Nov. 10, according to RCMP. Wal-Mart security staff tried to stop the man, but he resisted, so they called police. When the RCMP arrested the man, he had drugs in his possession and was found to have breached his probation conditions, the police stated. The man is well known to police for property crime and drug offences, according to the RCMP. Numerous charges are being recommended.
Impaired driving
A woman was arrested for impaired driving in the 38700 block of Britannia Avenue on Wednesday, Nov. 13. The woman was stopped by police for possibly being impaired behind the wheel and was uncooperative with police, so she was arrested, according to police. She eventually provided samples of her breath, which resulted in the charge of impaired driving.
Fraudulent cheques
Fraudulent cheques were couriered to a bank in the 38000 block of Cleveland Avenue to be deposited into a particular account on Friday, Nov. 14, according to RCMP. The police are investigating to determine the source of the cheques.
Excessive speed
A young man had his vehicle impounded when he was caught travelling 140 km-h in a 80 km-h zone on Highway 99 between
Garibaldi Way and Depot Road on Sunday, Nov. 16, police say. The vehicle was impounded for seven days and a ticket was issued.
