An undisclosed sum of money was stolen from a business in the 1200 block of Hunter Place sometime between 12:15 and 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4. An unlocked safe was targeted, police said. Business break and enter
A business was broken into, also in the 1200 block of Hunter Place, sometime in the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 31. The glass front door was shattered with a rock to gain entry, but it appears nothing was stolen. Video surveillance is being examined from the area as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police are looking for a white man they say is a suspect in the case. He is described as having a short beard and moustache, wearing a white and black-checkered hooded winter jacket with black pants and black and white-coloured sneakers.
Recovered stolen car
A stolen blue 1989 Toyota Camry was recovered in the 1200 block of Main Street on Friday, Jan. 2. The car was reported stolen from a residence in the 38000 block of Buckley Avenue on Oct. 16. NYE non-eventful
The Squamish RCMP reports the community and visitors had a relatively non-eventful evening. A few intoxicated individuals spent the night in cells, but overall most celebrated well and wisely, police said.
Drive carefully
Police said most drivers travelling in and through our area are prepared for the elements with winter tires, however, there remain some who are not prepared. Be sure to leave with plenty of time and with proper tires and clothing for the elements, police said.
The RCMP also said they have seen the occasional video posted online of traffic events or bad driving that isn’t reported to the police. Don’t assume an event has been reported; call it in, police said.
