Police return to scene of missing teen case

RCMP and volunteers search area where Jodi Henrickson was last seen

RCMP investigators are returning to the scene of Jodi Henrickson's disappearance Saturday (July 17) in an attempt to "narrow down the area of a possible crime scene," according to a police press release.

"This search is being undertaken as part of the normal progression of a criminal investigation of this type, and has not been prompted by any new or breaking information," states the release.

Seventeen-year-old Brackendale resident Jodi Henrickson was reported missing June 24, 2009 after failing to return from a weekend on Bowen Island.

Henrickson's former boyfriend, Gavin Arnott, is believed the last person to see her. Police have interviewed Arnott several times, and no charges have been laid in the case, however RCMP did classify the incident a homicide in March 2010.

As part of the on-going investigation, the Sea to Sky General Investigation Section will be co-ordinating a search of an area on Bowen Island known locally as Seven Hills Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

The area was previously searched by canine units in an attempt to locate Henrickson, however the most recent search will focus on items that may have been left behind at the time of her disappearance, states the release.

North Shore Search and Rescue will be checking the more difficult terrain and providing instructions to local volunteers.

"A Bowen Island community group offered to assist by providing volunteers from the local area to participate in this more thorough evidentiary search in a renewed community effort to aid in this investigation," states the release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the general investigation section at Squamish detachment 604 892-6100.

Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers 24/7 at 1-800-222-8477.

Callers are not required to testify in court nor provide names, addresses, or telephone numbers. A cash reward of up to $2,000 will be paid for any information leading to an arrest and charge.
