Police seek knife-wielding thief

Man pulls out weapon, flees after Save-On-Foods staff attempts to stop him

RCMP is on the lookout for a knife-wielding thief who threatened staff at Save-On-Foods when spotted attempting to shoplift meat yesterday afternoon.

On Tuesday (June 29) at 3:12 p.m., staff of Save-On-Foods contacted police to report that the male suspect was approached for shoplifting and pulled a large knife, waving it at staff, before fleeing with the meat products he had originally stole.

The male was wearing green camouflage style pants, a black jacket, white t-shirt with a square logo and a dark coloured Lucky Lager hat.

The male fled south through the Chieftain Mall past Shoppers Drug Mart when last seen.

Police have reviewed video surveillance and are in the process of identifying and locating the man, according to an RCMP news release sent Wednesday (June 30).

"No one was injured in the altercation and staff did the correct thing by not engaging with the male with knife and obtaining a detailed description of the male and the knife," states the release.
