Police seek suspects in Squamish home invasion

Public asked for help in apprehending two teens

Squamish RCMP are seeking the public's help in locating two teenaged suspects in a home break-in that occurred last week in Dentville.

On Friday (Feb.11) at 2:45 a.m., police received a report of a break-and-enter in progress at a home on Wilson Crescent, RCMP Staff Sgt. Guy Pollock said in a statement.

The woman who lives in the home awoke to find two males in her living room. She went to wake up her husband and the suspects fled, Pollock said. The two had gained entry to the home through a rear sliding door, he said.

Using a police dog tracking team, officers tracked the suspects' path, but the trail ended near an apartment complex. A forensic artist interviewed the woman and developed sketches of the two suspects.

The two are described as: (1) a white male, wearing a dark baseball cap, 13 to 18 years old, 130 pounds; (2) a white male, bushy blonde hair, nose ring, tongue stud, a scratch on his left cheek, a gap in his teeth, wearing a grey hoodie with front pocket, baggy jeans, 13 to 18 years old, 130 pounds.

Police are following up leads and continuing their investigation, Pollock said.

Skimming device found

Last Tuesday (Feb. 8), at 10 a.m., cleaning staff at the TD Canada Trust bank on Hunter Place found an electronic skimming device on the ground beside the bank's automated teller machine (ATM). "Skimming" bank-card information using such devices is an all-too-common way for criminals to gain access to people's money. The device was not attached to the ATM. Police seized it for forensic examination, Pollock said.
