Camping sites at Porteau Cove have hit the province's camping reservation system.
Last week, Discover Camping began accepting reservations for B.C. campgrounds, with a few more reservable sites on its inventory - including Porteau Cove. The Howe Sound campground is now 100 per cent reservable, stated the Minister of Environment.
B.C. Parks added four new campgrounds to its reservation system - Kleanza Creek, Martha Creek, Chilliwack Lake and Bowron Lake. The properties will be added to the 113 reservable campgrounds in 96 provincial parks already online.
Last year, for the first time ever, the ministry saw more than 100,000 reservations through Discover Camping - a 10 per cent increase over 2011 - Environment Minister Terry Lake stated in a press release. The online system offers a mobile platform so smartphone users can make and change plans from the road.
"With camping being so popular, many British Columbian families are starting to plan for the upcoming season," Lake noted. "Discover Camping makes planning and customizing camping vacations easy with its interactive features."
You can book a camp site up to three months in advance by visiting www.discovercamping.ca. Reservations can also be made through a call centre at 1-800-689-9025.
