To crack down on congested lots and illegally parked vehicles, the province announced it will increase ranger and park operator patrols at Porteau Cove.

This will start on Sept. 5, the beginning of the Labour Day weekend.

“The park has been experiencing a high number of visitors, leading to congested parking lots and illegal parking along access roads and in the day-use parking lots,” reads a news release from the province.

“The area is a popular location for divers, and access for emergency vehicles is crucial.”

Vehicles parked illegally at Porteau Cove Park will be towed at the owner's expense. RCMP will assist with enforcement along the highway.
