Pound dog retrieval foiled

Police were kept busy this week

On Tuesday (July 9) at about 7:30 p.m.police responded to a call of a break and enter in progress at the dog pound located in the 39000 block of Government Road. A female was observed climbing the fence and attempting to access the building, then leaving the scene in a vehicle. A vehicle license plate was obtained and the suspect wasstopped and arrested a short distance from the scene. A 24-year-old Vancouver resident is being charged in relation to the incident. The suspect's dog had been seized earlier in the day after it had been left in a vehicle in the hot weather, and had to be extricated from the vehicle due to concerns with its health at the time. Her apparent intent was to get her dog back, after hours, which was unsuccessful.

2. Assault

Also on Tuesday (July 9) at about 7:40 p.m.RCMP received a report of a male beingassaulted in a parking lot in the 40000 block of Glenalder Pl. by two other males. At the scene police located the 28-year-old victim, who is a Squamish resident and well known to local police. He was taken to Squamish General Hospital and then Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouverwithundetermined injuries. Police located and arrested the two suspects a short distance from the scene, again both of these males, 22 and 19 years of age, were Squamish residentsknown to police. The incident was not a random attack, the parties all being familiar to each other.

3. Theft from Vehicle

RCMP received a report of a vehicle being broken into while parked at the Shannon Falls parking lot on Wednesday (July 10). A rear passenger window had been smashed and a yellow purse, an Apple IPadand clothing in a blue hand bag were stolen from the vehicle's trunk.

4. Bicycle Theft

Also on Wednesday (July 10), police received a report of a mountain bike being stolen from behind an apartment complex in the 40000 block of Glenalder Pl. overnight. The maroon coloured, 1987-89 handmade bike with "Brodie Sovereign" written in white broken lettering on the frame worth approximately $2,500 may have been left insecure.

5. Break, Enter and Theft

RCMP received a report of the theft of three laptops from a business work site on the Mamquam Service Rd over two separate nights on the July 9 and 10. The laptops were silver and grey coloured HPs andwere taken from an insecure office. Two of thelaptops wereElitebook 8740Ws, the other a Probook 4530S.

6. Residential Break and Enter

On Friday (July 12), police received a report of a home and two vehicles being broken into in the 100 block of Oceanview place sometime between10 p.m.the night prior and6:45 a.m. The vehicles parked at the home had been left insecure rummaged through, but nothing was stolen. A Toshiba, model SIAT L500-018 laptop was taken from the home, which had been left insecure as well.
