Quest University is flinging open its doors.
On Thursday, March 6, the university that was the first in Canada to adopt a block system will host a community open house. From 6 to 7 p.m., staff and students will lead 40-minute tours of the campus. Students will be on hand in the university's library to talk about their daily experiences at the school. They are also hosting talks on recent excursions to Antarctica and the Himalayas.
Participants will get a chance to join in a sample class and take part in students' discussions ranging from problem solving in mathematics to exploring space-time and the art of rhetoric.
There will be nibblies and a giveaway at the end of the event, around 8 p.m. The prize package includes one free week-long class in the university's Summer Scholar program for Grade 10 to 12 students. Also up for grabs is the equivalent in adult summer classes. There will be activities for children of parents who attend the open house.
Students will be on campus to direct guests. Parking is available in either the underground car park or the visitors' lot.
The gathering will take place in the library building. Younger children, five and up, can be dropped off atthe RecPlex for either indoor or outdoor activities, depending on the weather.
