Construction will hit Quest University this summer, as the five-year-old institution tries to keep up with its growing student body.
The academy has begun to build the first of five new resident buildings, marking a major step in the university's development, Quest staff stated in a press release.
"This marks an important leap forward for Quest," David Helfand, the school's president stated.
As of September 2012, Quest will have grown from its original 72 students and seven faculty to 425 students and 31 full-time staff members. As a result, the university's four leased residential buildings are filled up.
"The construction represents both a visible symbol of our progress and a crucially important necessity to accommodate our expanding enrolment," Helfand said.
Entry applications are up nearly 50 per cent, the Quest release noted. The university is targeting 180 new students by the fall of 2013. At full capacity, Quest will enrol a maximum of 750 students, with approximately 650 living on campus.
The new, $9-million complex will provide single rooms for each student. The five buildings that make up the residence units will wrap around he hill on the south side of the campus and connect to the upper campus by covered walkways. The westernmost building will be completed first in the fall of 2013, with the second building following in 2014.
