Don't forget the gumboots today, Squamish, there's a storm a-brewin'.
To be more accurate, the storm is continuing.
Nonetheless, it is going to be wet and miserable for the next week, according to Environment Canada's latest forecast.
A rainfall warning is in effect for Squamish, as of early morning on Jan. 3.
"Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible," notes the alert.
Friday is set to see 20 to 30 mm of rain, at times heavy.
But, at least it won't be too cold, with the temperature hovering at about 6C.
And this isn't anything compared to 1984, when Squamish saw the greatest rainfall on record for today (1983-2009) with 95.2 mm falling that on Jan. 3 that year.
That said, another 10 to 20 mm of liquid sunshine is expected Friday night. The wind will be gusting south 30 km/h this evening, according to Environment Canada. It will calm down at about midnight.
An extra blanket might not be needed on the bed tonight though as the temperature will be 3C.
Saturday is slated to be cloudy with a 60% chance of rain. It will be about 3C.
Sunday — the day of the annual Brackendale Winter Eagle Count — will include more rain and a temperature of 4C.
Environment Canada predicts snow or rain and a high of 3C on Monday.
The rest of next week is set to be a repeat of rain, rain, and more rain through to Thursday.
