Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible before the heavy rain tapers off by Thursday morning.
A high streamflow advisory has been issued for Howe Sound, including the Stawamus River and surrounding creeks. In addition to heavy rain, snow is expected to melt at low elevations, contributing to streamflow runoff.
At this point, forecasts don't indicate the potential for rivers to flood, but low-lying areas and places with poor drainage may experience minor flooding, according to the River Forecast Centre.
