Squamish RCMP officers are looking for witnesses after a man allegedly approached a 10-year-old girl.
“The intentions of the man have yet to be determined, but investigators are looking to identify any witness in order to further the investigation,” said Cpl. Sascha Banks in a news release. “The girl was very brave — she yelled and ran away to find a trusted adult — she reacted exactly as she should have.”
Banks said police are looking for anyone who was in the area of Clarke Drive and Highway 99 on Thursday Sept. 28 at 3:30 p.m.
Officers said the girl was walking on the trail from Clarke Drive beside the highway when a man appeared from the bushes and is believed to have approached the girl.
The RCMP is looking for any witnesses to the incident as well as to identify two girls, who may have been in the area at the same time. The man has not been located yet, his description is as follows:
- Light-skinned male
- Grey hair
- Black pants and no shirt
- Possible tattoos on his arm and neck
- Cuts on his upper body
