RCMP seek help locating missing Bowen Island man

Michael Vanrookhuyzen was last seen in Saskatchewan more than a year ago

Bowen Island RCMP are asking for help locating an island man who has been missing for over a year.

Michael Vanrookhuyzen was last seen on June 2, 2022 in Chaplin, Saskatchewan, approximately 90 km between Swift Current and Moose Jaw. He was officially reported missing earlier this month June 17, 2023.

Vanrookhuyzen hasn’t been in contact with his family for more than a year, and RCMP say he also hasn’t been present on social media or accessed his bank accounts in that same amount of time. His family and police are concerned for his safety.

In a Sea to Sky RCMP release on June 27 police describe Vanrookhuyzen as Caucasian, 5’11, 185 lbs, 45-years old, with blue eyes and greying hair. His clothing is unknown, and he’s also known to be dealing with schizophrenia.

Anyone with information about Vanrookhuyzen’s wellbeing or whereabouts is asked to contact the Bowen Island RCMP at 604-947-0516.
