Not much is free in life these days, but — at least for the summer — riding the bus on weekends is.

BC Transit and the District of Squamish have announced the return of free summer weekend transit service on all routes on Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays.

The organizations also announced the reinstatement of the seasonal transit Route 5 to South Squamish Parks.

Both services start the week of  June 14.

Free summer weekend service ends Sept. 6.

The seven-day-a-week Route 5 South Parks includes connections from downtown Squamish to the Adventure Centre, Darrell Bay, the Sea to Sky Gondola, Stawamus Chief, and Valley Drive.

Sea to Sky Gondola annual pass holders can ride the route for free.
