Santa Claus parade planned for Dec. 10

Community

Sanata Claus is putting in an advance visit again this year for the annual Santa Claus Parade.

The event is set this year for Dec. 10 starting at 6 p.m.

According to a parade permission application made by local Claus representative Joan Forry, the parade route will be the same as the one used last year.

The parade route will begin at the intersection of Vancouver Street and Cleveland Avenue. The parade entries will then travel along Cleveland Avenue to Pemberton Street and turn onto Loggers Lane to wrap up at Hunter Place.

"I will be assisted once again by the Squamish Emergency Program helping with barricades and parade set up," Forry wrote.

Forry indicated that as Claus makes his way along Cleveland Avenue, the parade barricades would be taken down as the final parade float crosses each intersection.

DOS Council gave Forry and Claus permission to close Cleveland Avenue from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Squamish Transit will have to make some minor detours to accommodate St. Nick. During the parade hours, the bus will detour on Second Avenue during times when it normally travels on Cleveland [email protected]
