Separate fires gut two Porteau buildings

On Nov. 11 at 3:14 p.m. police were advised of an abandoned building on fire at Porteau Cove. Upon attendance the building had burned to the ground, one of five that ere all abandoned when a youth camp housed in the buildings was shutdown. On Nov. 15 a second building was razed by fire. Both incidents remain under investigation.

Car broken into at high school

On Nov. 15, a vehicle owner reports a theft from his car while parked at Howe Sound Secondary between 8 and 10 p.m. The driver's window was smashed and a packsack and equipment stolen. The "Badlands Wolverine" pack contained four hunting knives, clothing, bullets, a headlamp and flashlight, ropes and a flask valued at $1,000. The matter is still under investigation.

Powerhouse targetted

On Nov. 12 police were advised of a break, enter and theft, which occurred overnight at the Aster Creek Powerhouse on the Ashlu Forest Service Road in the Upper Squamish. The gate lock and storage shed lock were both cut off. Once inside the storage shed, thieves made off with a snowmobile, Honda generator, chain saw, welding helmet, fuel and oil. The matter is still under investigation.

Thief caught on video

On Nov. 15 at 10 p.m. owner reports while he was dining at Boston Pizza his green Arcteryx jacket valued at $200 was stolen from a coat rack. Video surveillance was retrieved and clearly shows a male suspect walk past the coat rack, turn around grab the jacket and then leave. And investigation is underway to identify male shown on video.

More thieves caught on video

On Nov. 15 at 8:44 a.m. a resident reports his vehicle in the underground parking lot on Victoria Street and Cleveland Avenue was broken into. Police attended and observed the driver side lock had been punched and entry gained. The suspects stole a green "AntiHero" skateboard and sunglasses. A neighbouring business caught video images showing two males in hoodies and dark pants entering the parking lot at 11:25 p.m. and leave at 11:34 p.m. The matter is still under investigation to identify the two suspects.
