SGH receives cash for emergency health care

Families across the Sea to Sky region will benefit from funding to strengthen public access to emergency services in rural communities, provincial government officials announced on Tuesday (Feb.7).

Families across the Sea to Sky region will benefit from funding to strengthen public access to emergency services in rural communities, provincial government officials announced on Tuesday (Feb.7).

The Whistler Health Centre, Squamish General Hospital and the Pemberton Health Centre are each receiving $200,000 to help pay for new equipment, provide incentives for staff to work on weekends, holidays and night shifts, and hire more physicians, officials said in a statement.

"Each of these communities has different needs when it comes to public access to emergency services," said Joan McIntyre, MLA for West Vancouver-Sea to Sky. "This boost in funding allows our health authorities to develop community-specific plans that will help ensure the long-term health and safety of families throughout the Sea to Sky region."
