Sixth federal candidate steps forward — apparently

Hartt listed as Canadian Action Party hopeful

A sixth candidate apparently has stepped forward to run for the job of representing the Sea to Sky Corridor's riding in Ottawa.

The Canadian Action Party's (CAP) website lists Doug Hartt as the party's candidate for Member of Parliament in the West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky riding in the May 2 federal election. He's listed as one of three candidates running for the party in B.C. Party leader Christopher Porter is running in the Victoria-area riding of Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca.

The first two paragraphs under the "About Us" tab on the CAP's website read, "The Canadian Action Party is, above all, a pro-Canadian party dedicated to the principle that Canada can best serve its citizens and the world by re-claiming and maintaining its political and economic sovereignty as an independent country.

"It is opposed to the ascendancy of 'corporate rule' and those aspects of unrestricted global investment that promote colonization of the world's smaller powers and in Canada's case, its absorption by the United States of America."

The five confirmed candidates in the riding that includes the Sea to Sky Corridor are incumbent Conservative John Weston, Liberal Dan Veniez, New Democrat Terry Platt, Green Brennan Wauters and Western Block Party hopeful Allan Holt.

The Chief and Squamish Chamber of Commerce are presenting a Squamish all-candidates' forum on Wednesday (April 13) at 7 p.m. at the Sea to Sky Hotel.
