In anticipation of the snowy weather this week, BC Housing is opening up additional spaces at the Squamish Helping Hands Society shelter on 3rd Avenue.
“We have the capacity to open up an extra 10 spaces for Extreme Weather Response which is funded and regulated by BC Housing,” Maureen Mackell of Helping Hands told The Chief via email in November.
As of today, BC Housing issued an extreme weather alert for Squamish on Twitter.
A search filter for extreme weather response shelters on the authority’s website shows that 15 beds in total are available as of 1:55 p.m. today.
However, as this is subject to change, people may want to call 604-815-4984
before arriving.
