Environment Canada is warning that snowfall is possible in the Howe Sound region on Monday.

A frontal system is approaching Sunday with modified arctic air over the south coast, a special weather alert warns.

"Modified arctic air will arrive over the south coast as a ridge of high pressure builds on Sunday. A frontal system will arrive over the south coast late Monday afternoon," the alert reads.

Snow is anticipated to accumulate in neighbourhoods and roadways above 200 metres.

The front will move on by Tuesday morning.

Drivers are required to have winter tires installed to drive the Sea to Sky Highway between October and March.
