Squamish break and enter suspect caught in the act

On Feb. 26 at 12:09 a.m., police responded to report of a break and enter in progress at a residence on Government Road. Witnesses were awakened by a noise and observed a male crawling through a window of a neighbouring residence.

Police located and arrested a 30-year-old male inside the residence. The male was found to be out on conditions from previous charges of break and enter in North Vancouver on Jan. 19.

Kelly Neighbor of Squamish appeared in court and has been held in custody until his next appearance on March 4 to answer to a charge of break, enter with intent and four counts of failure to comply with conditions of an undertaking along with several charges from the North Vancouver matter.

Pedestrian victim of hit and run

March 2 at 6:21 p.m., police received a report of a hit and run collision of a pedestrian. A 32-year-old woman from Vancouver was walking across the intersection when a vehicle turning left off of Buckley Avenue onto Cleveland Avenue struck her with the driver's side front of the vehicle.

Witnesses attempted to follow and locate the vehicle, which was last seen turning south onto Highway 99. The pedestrian was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment of her injuries.

The vehicle is described as a 1980 to 1990 import hatchback and dark in colour. The matter remains under investigation and police are asking anyone with information on the driver or vehicle to contact them or call Crime Stoppers.
