The Squamish Chief received nominations this week for awards in newspaper excellence.
The Chief is one of three finalists in the Newspaper Excellence category of the 2015 British Columbia and Yukon Community Newspapers Association’s Ma Murray Community Newspaper Awards (BCYCNA).
Production manager Louise Dewar was nominated in the Ad Design Award category.
Reporter Jennifer Thuncher was nominated for two awards for her work at other Glacier papers: one in the Sports Writing category and another for Environmental Writing.
Glacier Media, The Chief’s parent company, had a total of 54 finalists in 32 different categories.
There are a total of 44 awards (132 finalists) at the Ma Murrays this year.
Glacier’s 30 papers make up 25 per cent of the total membership of BCYCNA.
The winners will be announced at a Ma Murray Awards Gala on April 25.
