Coroners Service investigating pedestrian death from Highway 99 incident

According to the BC Coroners Service, the pedestrian that was struck on Oct. 29 has since died from their injuries.

The pedestrian struck by a car on the Sea to Sky Highway on Oct. 29 has since died.

The BC Coroners Service confirmed that it is currently investigating the death resulting from the incident.

On Oct. 29, 2022, at about 1:35 a.m., Squamish RCMP received a report of a serious crash on Highway 99 near Finch Drive, according to a police news release. 

The Integrated Collision and Reconstruction Service (ICARS), Fire Rescue, and BC Ambulance Service responded.  

The pedestrian was taken to a Lower Mainland hospital.

The driver is fully co-operative, police say. 

Alcohol was not involved, according to Mounties. 

“This event has impacted a number of people in different capacities,” said Cpl. Angela Kermer of the Sea to Sky RCMP. 

“As our work continues to determine what happened, we encourage anyone affected to reach out to support resources.”
