Squamish man accused of B&E, operating vehicle while disqualified

Ryan Brandon Reece is in custody and awaiting bail hearing

Charges have been laid against a man who has previously served time for criminal negligence in the death of a Squamish woman in 2012.

Court filings show Ryan Brandon Reece has been accused of operating a motor vehicle while disqualified, possessing property obtained by crime, and breaking-and-entering.

Reece, who is in custody, allegedly committed the offences between April 19 and 20 in Squamish and Agassiz.

His next bail hearing is scheduled for May 11, court filings show.

Reece previously made headlines in Squamish after pleading guilty to criminal negligence in the death of Tanya Lee Boudewyn.

In 2012, Reece was involved in a two-vehicle crash around the intersection of Government and Depot roads in Brackendale.

Reece was treated for injuries, but Boudewyn, a Squamish mother of two, died as a result of the accident.

In 2014, Reece was sentenced to a 3.5-year prison sentence.

The judge also banned him from driving for 10 years and imposed a firearm prohibition.

Reece was also found guilty in an unrelated case involving drinking and driving in 2013.
