Squamish man arrested for drug possession and theft

A group of suspicious-looking maleswere checked by Squamish RCMP at Victoria andLoggers Lane around 3:45 p.m. on Friday (April 13) and a 32-year-old Squamish resident well-known to police was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, ecstasy and a stolen computer laptop. Weapons possession-related charges may also be laid as police seized a can of bear spray, a knife and a club as well.

Residential Break and Enters

On Thursday (April 12), police received a report of a break-in to a home in the 2200 block of Read Cres. between 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.that same day. Entry was gained via an unlocked window and an XBox 360 Elite, a Toshiba laptop, an iPod charger and cigarettes were stolen, totaling approximately $1100. Another break and enter was reported to police on Saturday (April 14). Entry was gained to an unoccupiedresidence in the 2500 block of Jura Cres. by a rear window pried open. Extensive damage was caused to thehome - holes punched in walls, glass fixtures and mirrors broken, garbage strewn about and paint sprayed throughout. The approximate time of occurrence is not known.

Attempted Theftfrom BC Hydro Substation

On Wednesday, April 11, police received a report of damage to a fence at a BC Hydro Substation in the 59000 block of Squamish Valley Rd. Sometime during the week prior, the suspect(s) had cut the fence to gain access to the compound and unsuccessfully targeted a secured storage container. Nothing was stolen.

Damage to and theft from vehicles

On Wednesday, April 11, police received a report that between 6 p.m. the night prior and 9 a.m. that day, someone had smashed the driver's side window of a vehicle in the 40000 bloc of Willow Crescent and stolen a tool kit worth approximately $300. Also on Wednesday, April 11, police received a report that another vehicle was broken into between 11 p.m. the night prior and 9 a.m. that morning while it was parked on the road outside a residence in the 41000 block of Government Rd. A door was pried open and three iPods, numerous CD's and some clothing - totalling approximately $1300 in value - were stolen.

Lawn Mower Theft

On Thursday (April 12), police received a report that a Craftsman 42" 24hp riding lawn mower worth $2100 was stolen overnight from a residence in the 40000 block of Government Rd. The mower was cable locked inside a shed.
