Squamish Nation members are hosting a public meeting about the band's internal business on Thursday, July 17, at Totem Hall at 6 p.m.

Members of the Squamish Nation say they want answers regarding their council’s financial decisions.

On Thursday, July 17, a group of citizens have called for a meeting with their officials about the governance of their band.

“The people are concerned about what is going on,” Squamish Nation member Carol Joseph said.

Some residents are worried that council has misappropriated money and they want to see the books, she said. Council members have been invited to the public meeting at Totem Hall at 6 p.m.

“Basically the people want to know what is going on with the Nation because they are not getting information,” Joseph said.

If you miss the meeting in Squamish, Squamish Nation residents in North Vancouver are hosting a similar meeting on Sunday, July 20 at the Chief Joe Mathias Centre. The meeting takes place at noon.
