B & E
A woman called the Squamish RCMP to report a break-and-enter into her home on Edgewater Drive. The homeowner said when she woke up, on Monday, Sept. 12, she noticed the patio furniture moved and her kitchen window ajar. The owner checked the home and found $80 missing from a wallet. She went downstairs into the garage and found the glove compartment of her vehicle was left open, but nothing else was taken. She was concerned because all the residents were asleep in the house when someone broke in.  A neighbour told the police that he heard the sound of dropping tools at approximately 4:30 a.m.. He looked out the door but didn’t see anything suspicious. The file remains under investigation.

Suspicious person
At 6:15 a.m., on Monday, Sept. 12, the Squamish RCMP received a suspicious person complaint from a resident who lives on Edgewater Drive.
The caller saw a man in all dark clothing riding a child’s BMX bike and carrying tools.  There was no theft observed but the complainant thought it was odd behaviour given the time of day.  This file is believed to be linked to the break-in on Edgewater Drive, police said.

Laptop theft
A resident reported a break and enter at her home on Government Street on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Like the previous complaint, this resident also reported that the break-in happened throughout the night while she was sleeping.  She ssaid when she went to sleep and left the back screen door closed, but the main sliding door was left open.
When she woke up, she found her laptop and two pairs of Arcteryx black pants were missing. The laptop is 13-inch Lenovo black laptop. The value of the items taken is $500, police said.

Break-in and fraud
The owner of a brown 2000 Honda Accord called the Squamish RCMP to report that her vehicle was broken into on Wednesday, Sept. 14. She parked her vehicle at 2:30 p.m. on the side of the road, just off Brunswick Road exit.
When she return to her vehicle at 5 p.m., she noticed the front passenger window had been smashed and her purse was missing.    Her purse contained a wallet with ID, credit and bank cards, $85 cash and various other membership cards. The owner cancelled her cards, but not before her credit card was used at two businesses in Squamish.

Washed out road
A resident called the Squamish RCMP to report that the Upper Squamish Valley Road, near the 23-kilometre marker, had been washed out on Saturday Sept. 17.  The person was able to “boulder hop” and walk across the washed out part of the road and then catch a ride into Squamish.
It was reported that a dozen vehicles were parked on the other side of the washout.  Police said the people impacted were campers that were well prepared to stay a few days.
District of Squamish, BC Emergency Health Services, and Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resources were notified, according to police.
