McDonald's run leads to arrest

On Friday, April 24, at approximately 1:30 a.m. Squamish RCMP was called to a driving incident and hit and run in Valleycliffe. The caller said they were at McDonald's when a vehicle rear-ended them and then followed them home.  Once there, the driver of the vehicle backed into another car and then left the area. Police found the driver and vehicle on Fourth Avenue where he was arrested and an investigation was conducted.

The man was later released pending charges for impaired driving and failing to remain on the scene of an accident. He has a court date in North Vancouver in the coming months.

Ravenswood hit

Squamish RCMP received multiple reports of thefts from vehicles in the Ravenswood neighbourhood as well as a break and enter to a garage on Mockingbird Crescent, on Monday, April 27.  Several items were taken including a black and grey Gary Fischer Cake 2 bike.  The Squamish RCMP has noticed a dramatic increase in these type of offences in the Ravenswood area and want to remind residents to lock their vehicles, keep their garage door openers with them, and not to keep valuables in their vehicles.

On Thursday, April 23 an excavator was stolen from a construction business near Fisherman's Park. It was run into the woods, used to clear trees, driven into the river, and then returned, the business owner told police.
