Officer Scarecrow injured

Officer Scarecrow has been spray-painted while on duty in the 38800-block of Buckley Avenue. This is a workplace injury and has resulted in Officer Scarecrow being unable to report for active duty. Officer Scarecrow is an integral part of the Squamish RCMP team and assists in ensuring that motorists obey speed limits.

Bears still abound

Police are still receiving reports of bears in residential areas. These bears are attracted to garbage bins and fruit still on trees and bushes. The Squamish RCMP remind the public to secure their garbage totes and to remove all fruit from trees and bushes, following Squamish bylaws, as bears are still active in our community.

Rock thrown at vehicle

On Oct.14, the Squamish RCMP received a report of a rock thrown at a vehicle as it was travelling on Hwy 99 past Mamquam Road. The rock hit the front passenger side window of the vehicle. The driver wasn’t able to see who threw the rock.

Suspicious man

A man acting strangely at a local grocery store on Oct.17,  was reported to Squamish RCMP. A woman says that a man followed her around the store as she shopped. He is described as Indigenous, in his late 20s, with dark shoulder-length hair, approximately 5ft 5” tall, with a muscular build. There have been similar reports in the last few months where the description of the man appears to be the same. If you have information as to his identity please contact the Squamish RCMP.

Multiple vehicles damaged

On Oct. 19, three vehicles parked in a parking lot in the 900-block of Axen Road were damaged overnight.
