Halloween howls
During Halloween night, Squamish RCMP both responded to and patrolled for people illegally lighting fireworks. In many cases, fireworks were seized, police said.
Oct. 31, police received six firework calls and received two mischief calls involving kids knocking on doors and throwing eggs.
Impaired driving
Also on Halloween, police say a driver almost hit a Squamish RCMP member who was on patrol. Through investigation, the driver was determined to be "impaired by a drug." Under the Motor Vehicle Act, the member issued the driver a 24-hour driving prohibition, towed their car, and issued them a ticket for crossing a solid line.
Tire slasher
Squamish RCMP are investigating a case of mischief after a car’s tire slashed while parked at the intersection of Squamish Valley Road and the Shovelnose Creek entrance on Oct. 30, sometime between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
Hit and Run
A hit and run occurred at the Wal-Mart parking lot on Oct. 29, at about 4 p.m., officers say. After the incident, the offending driver drove away before exchanging information with the other driver, police said. The other driver’s car is a 2015 grey Chevrolet four-door Cruze. Should any potential witnesses recall seeing the accident, police would like to hear from them.
