Squamish RCMP have arrested a man who they allege tried to run over officers.
On June 29, police responded to a call regarding a theft on the 2300-block of Greenwood Way, reported officers in a news release.
While on foot, two officers found the suspect driving the stolen truck.
Police allege the driver tried to run over the officers, but they dodged the vehicle and avoided injuries.
The man then crashed the truck into a ditch and fled on foot. Officers located and arrested him for multiple offences, RCMP say.
Police believe this male was involved in a series of thefts from cars along Condor Road, Pia Road, Greenwood Road, and Highland Way North.
“We’re proud of our members who maintained their own and community safety as they faced great harm in arresting this man, and we’re glad multiple people reported suspicious activity,” said Cpl. Angela Kermer in a news release.
Officers are asking area residents to check if they have anything missing from their properties and cars, to check home security footage if available, and to report anything out of the ordinary to police.
Police say they want people to know that no information is too small to report, as all pieces help inform what happened.
