Failing to remain on the scene

After someone in the 40000 block of Glenalder Place saw a crash, they reported witnessing the driver get out of their vehicle, inspect the damage and drive away. The witness gave the RCMP the vehicle's license plate on Jan. 22. The police issued a ticket to the registered owner of the vehicle for failing to remain at the scene of an accident — a $368 fine.

Stolen vehicle found

Squamish RCMP went to Lions Bay after the report of an abandoned vehicle. They found the vehicle was stolen from Penticton and seized it for a forensic examination on Jan. 27. The investigation is ongoing.

Purse stolen

A shopper in a store on Discovery Way reported to police on Jan. 25 that her purse was taken from inside her shopping cart.  She noticed it was missing when she went to pay. The investigation is ongoing.

Passport theft from vehicle

On Jan. 26, someone reported to Squamish RCMP that their passport, wallet and cash were stolen from their vehicle while they were parked at Shannon Falls Provincial Park.

Speeding in school zones

Squamish RCMP issued seven tickets on Jan. 27 to people speeding in school zones. These fines can range from $196 to $253 for under 40 kilometres per hour, and up to a $368 fine and vehicle impoundment for above 40 kilometres per hour.
