Fentanyl found in cannabis
Squamish RCMP recently seized cannabis from youth. When the drug was tested, police found it contained fentanyl. RCMP are reminding the public to know the source of the cannabis they buy.
Fraud online and by phone
On Jan. 30, someone reported transferring $500 to an online seller for some equipment, only to stop the transfer when they realized the transaction was fake. Squamish RCMP say these types of crimes are difficult for police to trace, and remind the public to take precautions. If you are buying or selling something online, the Squamish RCMP detachment parking lot can be used as a pickup site.
On Feb. 1, another instance of fraud was reported after an unknown female caller posed as someone from the Canada Revenue Agency. She told the local resident that there was a warrant for their arrest. The caller's information showed the unknown voice was calling from the Squamish RCMP. The local police said this is not how the RCMP would contact someone with such information, and recommend anyone receiving suspicious calls to contact the business or agency directly.

A mobile phone was turned in to the police on Jan. 29 after being found on the bus in Valleycliffe. It will be destroyed in 90 days if not claimed.
On Jan. 30, someone turned in cards left behind at the Squamish Walmart, including a status card, ski hill employee pass, and gift card. These items will be destroyed in 90 days if not claimed.
