Squamish RCMP dealing with break-ins

Here is the week's police roundup

Squamish RCMP dealt with several instances involving either vehicle break-ins or mischief to vehicles during the past week.

Last Tuesday (April 22), police received a report of a vehicle having been broken into overnight while parked at a home in the 4000 block of Starview Place. The 2006 Toyota Tundra may have been left unlocked. No damage to the truck was reported, but it was rummaged through and spare change may have been stolen.

Also on April 22, a vehicle was damaged while it was parked in front of a home in the 39000 block of Government Road. The red PT Cruiser was keyed while parked overnight. Police are investigating.

On the same day, police received another report of a vehicle having been keyed, along with other damage, while it was parked overnight outside a home in the 1000 block of Edgewater Crescent. The black 2008 Jeep Wrangler also had an antenna bent and its gas cap ripped off.

On Wednesday (April 23), police received a report of a vehicle having been broken into while parked at a home in the 40000 block of Highlands Way. The incident occurred overnight on April 21. Stolen from the black 2008 Dodge Ram pickup were an Oakley “Hotshot” watch, a pair of Oakley ski goggles, and a man’s titanium ring with the words “All my love all my life” engraved on it. The items’ total value is estimated at almost $4,000. Apparently a side window was left open, providing an easy access point.

On Friday (April 25), police received a report that a green 2002 Suzuki Aerio had been stolen from the driveway of a home in the 41000 block of Tantalus Road. The vehicle was stolen sometime between April 24 at 4 p.m. and April 25 at 4 p.m.

On Saturday (April 26) at around 4:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a man trying to break into a vehicle parked at home in the 40000 block of Government Road.

When confronted by a resident, the suspect fled, and was last seen heading southbound on Government. The male is described as Caucasian, in his late 20s, approximately 6 feet tall with dirty blonde hair. At the itme, he was wearing a Mexican-style blanket over his clothing.

Nothing was stolen from the vehicle, which had been left unlocked. A police search of the area failed to locate a suspect.

Business damaged

On Friday (April 25), police attended a business in the 38000 block of Cleveland Avenue in response to a report of an attempted break and enter. A window to the business was smashed overnight, but no entry was gained and apparently nothing was stolen.
