Squamish RCMP investigate after up to $20,000 in damages to trees

About 25 trees in the Garibaldi Highlands were damaged for unknown reasons.

Between $10,000 to $20,000 in damages to trees on District of Squamish property along Glacier View Drive have prompted RCMP to call upon the public for information.

Police say they began an investigation into the matter on May 18 after damage occurred to about 25 trees near the dog park in the area and some houses.

According to officers, the cost of damages was provided by District employees, who say the repairs will involve tree removal and slope reinforcement.

“The persons who did this had some type of motive we need to resolve, and our investigators are working with our local partners to determine what happened,” says Cpl. Damien Maile of the Squamish RCMP in a new release.

Squamish RCMP asks anyone with any information regarding the above file to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100, or, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to www.solvecrime.ca.
