Tuesday, Sept. 23 at approx. 10 a.m. RCMP arrested a 34-year-old Squamish male they had been looking for in relation to an earlier investigation involving mischief and theft from a vehicle. The suspect, who is well-known to police, was observed at a business on Cleveland Avenue and Highway 99, and arrested.
Found in the possession of the suspect was a quantity of personal identification, bank and credit cards from multiple individuals, mail, driver’s licences, narcotics and drug-related paraphernalia, multiple tools, phones and cameras.
The investigation is complex and ongoing. The prolific offender is known to be involved in thefts from vehicles, mail thefts, property offences and drug-related crimes.
Currently police are investigating charges of theft from auto, mischief, fraud, identity theft, possession of break-in tools, stolen property, possession of controlled substances, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The suspect was found in possession of varied quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, heroin, hash oil and morphine. As well, a quantity of cash was also seized in relation to the drug activities.
Theft from Vehicle
On Friday, Sept. 19, police received a report of a rental car being broken into while parked in the Shannon Falls parking lot, between 5 and 5:20 p.m. The 2014 Subaru Outback had its rear passenger window smashed to gain entry and two back packs with personal effects were stolen, including a Lenovo X230 laptop in a black case, two mobile phones, a Samsung Galaxy Ace2 and a Nokia, associated electronic equipment for the phones, personal clothing, a purse and a wallet. Personal ID and bank cards, along with two Australian passports, and over $700 in cash were lost in the theft.
On Monday, Sept. 22 a purse that had been found near the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal was turned into the local police office. This purse had been the one stolen from the car, and inside were the missing passports, a wallet with ID, minus the credit cards and cash, and other personal items.
Business B & E
On Friday, Sept. 19 at approximately
8:30 p.m. police responded to a report of a break-in at a business in the 1300 block of Pemberton Ave., in which a male was seen inside. At the scene, police arrested a 46-year-old Vancouver male of no fixed address.
Nothing had been stolen, and no others were involved. The male is being charged with break and enter.
Residential B & E
On Monday, Sept. 22 police received a report of a break and enter having occurred at an apartment complex in the 38000 block of Buckley Ave. The incident occurred sometime between the evening of Friday, Sept. 19 and Sept. 22. A room used as a workshop was targeted, and numerous hand tools, along with a Milwaukee Bi-Metal Hole saw, a Ryobi grinder, jig saw and combo kit, and a Dewalt rotary sander, as well a number of plumber’s tools and a plumber tool pouch were stolen.
