Squamish RCMP say officers were called this week to help a person who was in distress and feeling suicidal at the top of the Stawamus Chief. Several RCMP members hiked to the first peak of the Chief, where they found an individual experiencing a mental health crisis and another individual who was trying to help the distressed person. After more than four hours of dialogue, the person in distress was apprehended under the Mental Health Act. This individual was then taken to the hospital, where they were received medical treatment.

(If in crisis, help is also available 24/7 here.)
