Around $500,000 worth of items including family heirlooms have disappeared, prompting Squamish RCMP to search for two people wanted on theft-related warrants.
Officers are recommending charges of theft against Brenden Eslick and Samantha Pelletier after a number of items from a Lions Bay home were found missing.
The lost possessions include Persian rugs, 24-Carat gold old Persian kingdom earrings, laptops, passports, gold coins, jewelry, wills and the deeds of the residence.
“This isn’t just theft of items, this is for them significant items that are heirlooms and have significant value for the family,” said Staff Sgt. Jolaine Percival. “To state they’re distraught would be an understatement.”
Police allege the suspected thieves also took a car that belonged to the residents, a grey 2003 Toyota Camry with B.C. license plate 602 JEP. The items went missing after a family member who knew the pair left them alone in the house, officers said.
Police believe the suspects may still be in British Columbia, but they also have connections to Alberta.
