Squamish receives tourism funding

Squamish was one of approximately 180 communities province-wide to receive money for tourism marketing and development through the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation's Community Tourism Opportunities (CTO) program.

Squamish was one of approximately 180 communities province-wide to receive money for tourism marketing and development through the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation's Community Tourism Opportunities (CTO) program.

The funding, announced in a statement issued on Wednesday (June 15), helps communities implement their own tourism initiatives. Communities are eligible for up to $9,200 through the program.

Squamish was one of 19 communities and groups to receive a total of $184,500 in the Vancouver and Coast Mountains region, officials said.

"We are giving communities this funding so they have the tools to grow their tourism sector, which has nearly 18,000 tourism-related businesses that support British Columbians," Pat Bell, B.C.'s Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation, said in a statement. "This program is just one of the ways we are committed to partner with communities and enable them to prioritize the projects that support tourism in the regions."
