Squamish residents aged 65 and up can call in to book a vaccine appointment with Vancouver Coastal Health starting today.

Vancouver Coastal Health will be allowing Squamish residents aged 65 and older to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointments starting on April 8.

In a news release issued that day, the authority said people can call 1-833-838-2323 to book their appointment.

To get ready for your call, have a pen and paper handy.

You will be expected to provide your personal health number, full name, date of birth, postal code and phone number.

The authority says there are enough appointments available and there is no rush to call in. Call volumes are lower in the late afternoon and evening. The appointment booking toll-free phone line is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

People may also register online with your Personal Health Number at www.getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca.

Aside from those 65 and older, people who are deemed clinically extremely vulnerable may book in. If you fall in this category, you should expect to receive a patient invitation letter by April 15.

Indigenous peoples aged 18 and older may also start booking as well.
