Film screening to raise money for Squamish SAR

Event to take place at the Sea to Sky Gondola on Nov. 6.

A film screening fundraiser aims to raise money to support Squamish Search and Rescue's volunteer services.

The film screening is set for Nov. 6 at the Sea to Sky Gondola and will have selections from the Telluride Mountain Film Festival. Ticket sales will be available within the next few days, and only 225 tickets will be available in total. A silent auction will also be available at the event.

The event is hosted by VentureWeb.

“Money raised will go directly to costs associated with rescue support such as gear, training, technology and other vital supplies to support rescues and tasks within designated areas of Squamish and the Sea to Sky,” said a news release.

The release further stated that 100% of the donations will go towards the Squamish SAR and that donors would be recognized in the community newsletter following the event.

For those interested in purchasing a ticket to the film screening, please email Kathy Wolfe at Kathy.Wolfe@SquamishSAR.org. Interested donors can also make a donation through their Canada Helps website.

Donors who leave “Telluride Mountain Film Festival” in the message box in their Canada Helps donation will also be recognized in the community newsletter.

**Please note that this story has been corrected since it was first posted. While the first press release we received about this event said SAR was hosting the fundraiser, a follow-up release said VentureWeb was the host.
