The Sea to Sky School District is shutting down classes on Monday, June 28, as a result of the expected extreme heat.
Supt. Lisa McCullough announced in a letter on June 27 that school closures are being prompted by an extreme heat warning from public health.
“The school district’s ability to keep all students and staff in reasonable conditions varies from site to site yet remains very challenging in all buildings,” she wrote.
Schools will be shut and school bus services will be cancelled. Parents are being asked to keep children home, but there will be staff on site for those unable to make new arrangements for their children.
Secondary students needing to attend regarding graduation program completion requirements will be accommodated at their school to do so.
On Tuesday, schools will open at regular times and buses will be running.
School closing time and bus departure times are being adjusted. School principals will be communicating closing times for their school that day.
