Squamish Search and Rescue volunteers have successfully helped Kamloops crews rescue two stranded climbers in Marble Canyon.

SAR Rescue manager B.J. Chute told The Chief that Squamish rescuers sent a helicopter longline and rope team to assist after receiving a call form Kamloops last night, April 19, at about 10:30 p.m.

The climbers were stranded about 10 pitches up.

On Tuesday morning, Chute said while communications with the subjects were limited, the plan was to fly in and longline them out.

As of 1:20 p.m. April 20, he told The Chief the climbers had been airlifted out with a longline.

Prior to crews reaching them, the pair managed to wait things out by starting a fire.

Rescuers found them cold and hungry, but uninjured.

Chute said their rope had become tangled, causing them to become stranded.
