Squamish United U16 made it all the way to the semi-final match at the Coastal Cup, but unfortunately lost to Guildford on Saturday.

The team lost on penalties after the game was tied 0-0 after extra time.

“Squamish came out much stronger in the second half, outplayed Guildford and had several chances to win the game, despite having no substitutes available,” wrote Peter Weiland.

“Squamish played a great season and pushed the reigning Div 1 Champions to the brink and were 1 penalty away from going to Provincials.”

There were other Squamish teams at the event. U13 girls lost on Sunday 3-6 to Vancouver United FC.

U15 girls lost 0-2 to Vancouver Athletic FC. “Having three teams in Coastal Cup semi-finals is a great success for our club and shows that we are on the right track with developing soccer players,” wrote Weiland.
