Want to have your say? The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District and District of Squamish are seeking feedback from the public before the Squamish Valley Agricultural Plan is complete.

"The plan represents an important opportunity for cross-jurisdictional collaboration around the regional food system, food policy, bylaws, and support for agriculture. It contains recommendations and implementable actions that will shape the future of agriculture in the Squamish Valley," Mayor Karen Elliott said in a press release.

The plan has been in the works since 2018 and been the topic of a survey, open houses and steering committee meetings as it aims to cover Area D, and parts of the Squamish Valley that are within the District and on unceded traditional territory of the Squamish Nation. This upcoming open house on Feb. 20 will be the last before the plan is finalized.

"This has been an extensive process and the agricultural plan represents months and months of work, with collaboration from various levels of government, industry and the community," said SLRD director for Area D and board chair Tony Rainbow in the release.  "Community input has helped to shape this plan that will, in turn, set the course for the future of agriculture in the Squamish Valley."

The open house will be on Feb. 20 at the Squamish Adventure Centre, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an overview, presentation and opportunity to provide feedback.
