Here’s your April 26 Squamish weekend weather forecast

Periods of rain and showers are predicted by Environment Canada over the next few days.

Just like yesterday, more rain is predicted through the weekend and early into next week.

According to Squamish meteorologist Jason Ross, wet and unsettled conditions are expected over the next few days.

“A weakening trough of low pressure will linger over the south coast today with showers at times. Another upper trough will move onto the B.C. coast on Saturday, maintaining cool wet unsettled conditions into early next week,” Ross wrote to The Squamish Chief on Friday, April 26.

According to Environment Canada, Friday’s high temperature is estimated to be 14 C with a low of 9 C. Saturday will be cooler with a high of 11 C and a low of 8 C, and it may be even cooler on Sunday with a high of 10 C anda low of 6 C.

Periods of rain and showers are also predicted by Environment Canada.

Avalanche conditions

The mountains to the north of Squamish have a current “low” avalanche risk rating from Avalanche Canada, which holds through Saturday and upgrades to “moderate” on Sunday.

“Continuously assess conditions as you gain elevation. Winter conditions persist at higher elevations. New wind slabs could form where precipitation falls as snow,” reads an assessment report from Thursday, April 25.

The risk in the alpine is moderate to the south, east and west of Squamish, say above the Sea to Sky Gondola.
