Squamish's Hilltop House sees more positive COVID-19 cases

More positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported at Squamish's Hilltop House.

Hilltop House is an 85-bed long-term care residence that serves the Sea to Sky Corridor.

As of Jan. 20, a total of six positive COVID-19 tests had been recorded at the long-term care home. Four cases were among residents and two of the positive cases were staff, according to Ministry of Health data.

No deaths had been related to the positive cases as of Jan. 20.

Originally, on Jan. 13, one resident and two staff members were said to have the virus.

Later, another resident tested positive, it was confirmed on Jan. 15.

The report is updated weekly. The next report is expected Thursday.

Earlier this month, COVID-19 vaccinations began in Squamish.

Those eligible for the immunization at this stage in the vaccine roll-out include long-term care residents, staff, medical staff and essential visitors, as well as eligible acute care staff and other medical staff, according to a  Vancouver Coastal Health Jan. 15 news release.
