Squamish's Justin Lamoureux threw down an impressive second run in the men's Olympic halfpipe final to earn seventh place at Cypress Mountain on Wednesday night (Feb. 17).
The 33-year-old recorded a score of 35.9 in front of family, friends and thousands of spectators before clipping out of his bindings and taking a bow.
"It was awesome. The crowd was super good. It's a dream come true," said Lamoureux, who improved greatly on his 21st place at the 2006 Winter Games.
"I tried to pick my runs. First run, I got a little bobble, so I changed up on the fly. The second kind of went the way I wanted."
Meanwhile, American superstar Shaun White took the gold after recording a stunning 48.4 on his second run, having already clinched victory with his first run of 46.8.
"I just felt like I didn't come all the way to Vancouver not to pull out the big guns. I put down the tricks I've worked so hard on," said the 23-year-old, who also won Olympic gold in 2006.
"My coach said at the top, don't do this unless you're gonna stomp it."
