Oceanfront Squamish provided an update that the finishing touches for Sp’akw’us Feather Park are currently underway and expected to open in the summer of 2024.

“After dedicating the previous two summers to in-water works, our attention has now shifted to the final aspects of park construction. These final touches include placement of organic material, plantings, landscaping and hardscaping, as well as the integration to the surrounding lands,” reads the news release on Oceanfront’s website

As such, the public access to the south end of the area remains closed to the public as they continue the construction.

“As members of the community, we recognize the value of public green spaces, trails, and access to the ocean. However, limited access to the Sp’akw’us Feather Park area is in place to ensure public safety,” reads the release.

The park is set to have a water sports beach, a public beach, art installations and trails among other amenities.

Despite the park remaining closed at this time, the release also noted that some trails and public access are available on the Mamquam Blind Channel as well as Cattermole Slough. It asked for users to be wary of picking up dust along the road and posted signage, if they choose to use the areas.

Furthermore, the release said that the construction of its future sales centre and brewery is also underway, which is called the Presentation Centre and Public House.

“Matthews West anticipates that both the park and the Presentation Center Public House will open their doors to the public in the summer of 2024, offering an exciting and vibrant experience for everyone to enjoy.”
